The recent reunion of the class of 1979 was a great opportunity for sharing memories of our time as students at CHS. A common theme in conversations seemed to be an appreciation for the education we received and a fondness for the Cadillac area, which was truly a great place to grow up. The sentiments shared with fellow classmates became a catalyst for action to help others get a start in life. This sparked the beginning of creating a scholarship fund that could be supported by alumni and others. Due to the generosity of a small group of contributors, we are able to say that we will be giving out a scholarship in the spring of 2025! Our hope is to make this scholarship a yearly event. - How did the Viking Spirit Scholarship get started?
We are a small group of classmates who share a common appreciation for the good start we received at CHS and a fondness for the area in general. Most of us can point to someone in our past who helped us get started in life. This is our chance to be that someone for others! - How can I get involved?
The scholarship is ready to go for 2025. At this time, we are trying to raise enough funds to make this a yearly occurrence. Any donations are appreciated and all contributors will be noted on the website. - How do I contribute?

The committee has 5 members from the class of 1979. - How will the scholarship candidate be selected?
The Foundation will publicize the scholarship application to school district counselors. The counselors will then be able to direct students to apply. The committee will then review applicants to make the final selection. - What are the qualification for the scholarship?
The qualifications include a combination of leadership qualities demonstrated in the classroom and/or community, a written essay, and a grade point average of 2.5 or above. School counselors will help to pinpoint candidates. - How is the money distributed?
The scholarship is distributed directly to the institution to which each student is accepted. - How long are we raising funds for this scholarship?
With the funds already donated, we will present a scholarship to a graduating senior in the class of 2025. With the help of alumni, friends and family, we have the potential to create an endowed scholarship that will have a long-reaching impact on future CHS graduates.
